Seven-run first keys Tribe victory

FORT RECOVERY - There was plenty of offense for the home team Thursday.
The Fort Recovery High School baseball team put up seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and dominated the visiting Union City Indians for a 10-0, five-inning win.
Frank Thien led the offensive explosion for the Tribe, going 3-for-3 with a double. He drove in two runs, scored twice and stole a base.
Brady Kahlig added two hits and two RBIs, and Travis Hart also had a pair of hits. Greg Kahlig drove in three runs, and Nate Keller and Nate Fortkamp each scored twice.
Greg Kahlig dominated the Union City lineup, allowing just two hits. He recorded 13 of the 15 outs in the game with strikeouts.
Junior varsity
MARIA STEIN, Ohio - The host Marion Local Flyers scored 13 times in the third and fourth innings to defeat Fort Recovery 14-7.
The Indians trailed 7-1 after Marion Local's six-run third inning, but pulled to within two with four runs in the top of the fourth. However, the Flyers responded with seven runs in the bottom of the frame to take control for good.
Hayden Pottkotter took the loss, allowing 11 runs - four earned - on four hits and two walks in 3 1/3 innings.
