MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The Flyers soared Thursday night, leaving Fort Recovery behind.
The Indians lost their third match in the Midwest Athletic Conference, dropping by a 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 score to the Division IV No. 7 Marion Local Flyers Thursday.
The loss pushed the Tribe, rated 18th in Division IV, to 3-7 on the season against teams which are currently state-ranked.
Jennalee Post scored a team-best eight points as the Indians slipped to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the MAC, which boasts six state-ranked squads. She also had 23 assists and seven digs against Marion Local (15-4).
Tiff Gaerke posted 12 kills and four blocks.
Vicki Roessner had 10 digs, and Lauren Wenning finished with six kills.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also lost to the Flyers, falling for just the third time this season by a 25-20, 25-12 count.
Sarah Braun posted team highs of six kills and five digs for the Indians (13-3, 4-2 MAC). She also had three points.
Angie Wenning had six points and four digs, and Kinsey Wenning notched three kills and three blocks. Heather Schmackers totaled 14 assists, LeAnne Tobin had four digs and Joanna Snyder finished with three kills.
Freshman
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians followed Tuesday’s win over Coldwater with a 25-16, 25-20 loss to the St. Henry Redskins Thursday.
Annie Koesters finished with five points, two kills and two blocks as Fort Recovery slipped to 5-4 on the year. Rachel Tobe had six points, and Amy Hart added a pair of kills.
Junior high
FORT RECOVERY — The eighth grade team eked out a victory in three hard-fought games, edging the Coldwater Cavaliers 27-25, 24-26, 15-12. The seventh grade squad fell short, losing to Coldwater 25-21, 25-16.
Nicole Pottkotter was second on the team in assists and kills with five and four respectively. She also scored six points.
The Indians (11-2) got seven assists and six kills from Josie Guggenbiller. Sylvia Schwieterman scored 12 points, and Emily Link finished with seven points.
Holly Brunswick totaled six points and four kills for the Fort Recovery seventh graders (6-7). Olivia Thien had four digs and three kills, Deanna Hemmelgarn scored four points and Nichole Kaiser had a pair of kills.[[In-content Ad]]
