Shifts in poll sites approved (04/08/08)
Six Jay County precincts will vote at a single polling place during the May 6 primary election, Jay County Clerk Jane Ann Runyon said Monday afternoon.
The Jay Community Center will serve as the polls for Wayne 1, Wayne 3, Wayne 4, Wayne 5, Wayne 6, and Noble Township.
This will be a change for Wayne 1 and Wayne 6 voters, who voted in the last election at the Portland armory.
Runyon explained that the armory, now owned by the Jay School Corporation, is undergoing renovations and will not have restroom plumbing in place by election day, making it unsuitable as a polling site.
Voters in Wayne 2 will continue to vote at the Jay County Courthouse, while voters in Wayne 7 will vote at the Church of the Nazarene in Portland.
Voters casting their ballots at the Jay Community Center should use the south entrance. Polls for each precinct will be set up in the new gymnasium at the community center.[[In-content Ad]]
