Six now in race for Jay sheriff (01/21/06)

The crowded field in the race for Jay County sheriff filled out Friday with the expected filing of Greg A. Franks, Portland, who had announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination a week earlier.

Franks and Mark A. Barnett, Portland, will square off in May’s Democratic primary while four Republicans — Bob Brown, Jay Halstead, Ray Newton, and Mitch Sutton, all of Portland — are seeking their party’s nomination.

In other filings Friday, Jerry D. Monroe filed for the Republican nomination for Jefferson Township trustee, James B. Isenhart filed for the Democratic nomination for Greene Township trustee, and Robert C. Lyons filed for the Democratic nomination for Pike Township trustee. All three are incumbents.

Jeff Overholser filed for the Republican nomination for a seat on the Noble Township advisory board.

Martha J. Miller filed for the Democratic nomination for the Wabash Township advisory board.[[In-content Ad]]
