FRHS baseball/softball
FORT RECOVERY and ST. HENRY, Ohio - At home or on the road, Fort Recovery's teams had little luck with the Redskins Thursday night.
The Indian baseball team lost 3-2 to the host St. Henry Redskins, and the Fort Recovery High School softball team managed just one hit in a 6-0 loss at home.
The Tribe baseball team (5-5, 1-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) fell behind by two, but pulled to within 2-1 after four innings and 3-2 through six. But despite out-hitting the Redskins 4-3, it could not come back for the win.
Greg Kahlig had two sacrifices in the game and drove in both Fort Recovery runs. Frank Thien finished 1-for-2 with a double, and Clint Tobe, Cody Fiely and Travis Hart had the other Indian hits.
The FRHS softball team (4-10, 0-3 MAC) got a lone single from Ashley Grube while St. Henry scored twice in the third, fourth and seventh innings.
Beth May took the loss, allowing four runs - two earned - on three hits and a walk while striking out four. Kinsey Wenning gave up two runs on three hits in two innings of relief.
JV softball
Fort Recovery came up with just two hits in a 5-1 loss to the host Redskins.
Carly Staugler walked in the first inning, and Josie Guggenbiller drove her in for the Indians' only run. St. Henry took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first and added one in the second and two in the fourth.
Shelby Brunswick took the loss, giving up five runs - four earned - on three hits and five walks in four innings. Andi Sutter pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
Olivia Thien and Kendra Brunswick each had singles in the defeat.[[In-content Ad]]
