Slate of summer enrichment scheduled
South Adams School Board
BERNE - A host of summer enrichment courses will be offered by South Adams Schools this year, pending sufficient student interest and final approval by the South Adams School Board.
Courses to be advertised for the InSight OnSite program include music and composition with computer software, white water rafting, field biology, dinosaurs, and King Tutankhamun.
Potential field trips include a trip to New England, an overnight white water rafting trip to Tennessee, and a spelunking (cave exploration) trip to the Bloomington area.
Board members approved the balance of the summer school schedule Tuesday, including credit recovery and remediation classes. Summer courses in biology and agriculture will also be offered along with the summer marching band program.
In other business, the board:
•Adopted social studies textbooks for next year.
•Approved revised student handbooks for middle school and high school students for the 2009-10 school year.
•Approved an inter-local government agreement for the safe schools/healthy schools program.
•Hired Tessa Hofstetter as a food service assistant.
•Approved Amber Steiner as new head cheer coach.[[In-content Ad]]
