Slow start puts Indians in a hole (02/12/05)
FRHS boys basketball
ROCKFORD, Ohio — Another first quarter hole proved too much for the Indians to climb out of Friday night as they fell to host Parkway 60-52.
Hot-shooting Parkway jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 31-21 by the end of the first half, hitting 56 percent of its shots from the field.
Meanwhile, Fort Recovery, which has struggled to get its shooting game in gear, hit just 38.1 percent from the field in the first two periods. The Indians improved their shooting to 46.2 percent in the second half, outshooting Parkway.
The Indians outscored Parkway 15-14 in the third period and 16-15 in the final stanza.
But it was too little too late.
Dusty Tobe led the Indians offensively, hitting 4 of 9 from the field, for 11 points. Sean Kahlig scored 10, hitting 5 of 8 from the field.
Parkway’s offense was not only more powerful but better balanced. Mark Snyder led with 17 points, with Derik Snyder close behind with 13 and Jordan Heckler with 11.
In the JV match-up, it was Parkway on top 38-28.
