NEW BREMEN, Ohio - The Indians trailed for a grand total of 11 seconds.
Fort Recovery High School's girls basketball team led throughout the second half Thursday, riding a 17-point effort from senior Joanna Snyder to a 51-43 victory over the New Bremen Cardinals.
New Bremen took its only lead of the game when Stacy Timmerman hit a pair of free throws with 1:15 to play in the first half. But Kelsey Wuebker put the Tribe back on top just 11 seconds later as Fort Recovery scored nine straight points bridging halftime.
Snyder hit the final hoop of the opening half, and then scored the first basket of the second. Nicole Pottkotter added a 3-pointer to push the Indians to a 27-19 lead, which they held for the remainder of the game.
Snyder had a standout night for FRHS, shooting 8-of-13 from the field for her game-high scoring total. She also led the Indians in rebounds (nine) and steals (three) and added three assists.
Pottkotter hit a pair of 3-points and scored nine points. Wuebker had six points, four assists and three steals.
Jaclyn Dabbelt was the lone Cardinal in double figures with 14 points as the home team shot just 29 percent from the field. She also had six rebounds and four steals.
LeAnn Topp had nine points and two assists, and Stacy Timmerman totaled eight points and eight rebounds.
Junior varsity
Holly Brunswick racked up 19 points to lead Fort Recovery to a 44-12 domination for the Cardinals.
The Indians had a 10-point lead at the close of the first quarter, and then outscored New Bremen 17-1 in the second. The Cardinals also went without a field goal in the fourth quarter.
Kelly Nietfeld followed Brunswick with seven points, seven steals and three assists for the Tribe. Kylie Kahlig had six points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Hannah Overman totaled six points for New Bremen. Gina Griesdorn added three points and four rebounds.[[In-content Ad]]
