FRHS girls basketball
FORT RECOVERY - There were several impressive individual efforts. None was better than that from Joanna Snyder.
The Fort Recovery High School junior missed a free throw with 1:12 left Thursday night. It was her only miss of the game - from the line or the field - as she racked up team highs in points, rebounds, assists and steals to lead the Indians to a 54-46 victory over the New Knoxville Rangers.
Snyder finished the evening perfect from the field, hitting all six of her two-point attempts and her lone 3-point try. She went 4-of-5 from the line, and had four assists and three steals.
She also grabbed 10 of Fort Recovery's 18 rebounds.
Annie Koesters was also outstanding for the Indians (6-4, 3-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) to help overcome a 27-point night from New Knoxville's Brooke Niemeyer. Koesters shot 8-of-15 from the field for 16 points as the Indians shot 23-of-38 (61 percent) for the game.
Fort Recovery trailed by one three minutes into the second half before opening a double-digit lead and controlling the remainder of the game. Koesters hit three consecutive hoops as the Tribe took the lead for good, and Nicole Pottkotter's 3-pointer with 2:37 left in the third quarter made the advantage 35-27.
Chelsey Leuthold added four more points before a 3-pointer from Niemyer ended a four-minute scoring drought for the Rangers (6-6, 1-3 MAC). The Indians pushed ahead by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter before New Knoxville got back into single digits for the final margin.
Niemeyer scored more than half of her points with a 14-of-16 effort at the foul line. She also had six rebounds and three steals.
Casey Horstman went 6-of-11 from the field for the Rangers and scred 14 points.
