Snyder scores 11 in ONU win

A Fort Recovery High School graduate was one of four players to score in double figures for the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team Saturday.
Joanna Snyder tallied 11 points off the bench for the Polar Bears as they defeated John Carroll 89-79.
Snyder was sharp, finishing 5-of-7 from the field and hitting her only free-throw attempt. She also had two assists, two steals and a rebound.
The sophomore ranks fourth on the team, averaging 7.2 points per game, and shoots 52 percent from the field. She also has 44 rebounds, 27 assists, 14 steals and six blocks for ONU, which is now 13-6 overall and 6-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Tyler Rigby
Jay County – 2006
Overcame an illness Friday to score 21 points in the Indiana University East men’s basketball team’s 86-73 victory over Berea College.
Rigby, battling flu-like symptoms, scored 16 of his points in the second half as he shot 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from 3-point range for the Red Wolves. He also had five rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists.
The senior, who is IU East’s all-time leading scorer, finished with 12 points, six rebounds, one steal and one assist Saturday in an 89-61 victory over Alice Lloyd.

Cori Vormohr
Jay County – 2009
Turned in a fifth-place finish for the Ball State University women’s swim team Saturday during its 174-5-118.5 loss to Buffalo.
Vormohr’s best individual effort of the day came in the 200-yard breaststroke as she finished in 2 minutes, 30.23 seconds.
She was also seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.14.
The sophomore anchored the third-place 400 freestyle relay team, finishing off a third-place finish in 3:50.62 with teammates Mallory Przybylinski, Chelsey Young and Stacey Wierman. Vormohr, Mia Miller, Mallory Miles and Alanna Bader were fourth in the 200 medley relay in 1:50.88.

Pazia Speed
Jay County – 2010
Returned to the starting lineup for the Huntington University women’s basketball team Saturday in its 79-70 victory over Taylor.
Speed hit her only field-goal attempt, a 3-pointer and added a pair of free throws to finish with five points. She also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Brandon Reynard
Jay County – 2009
Came away with a ninth-place finish for the Indiana Tech men’s track team as it competed in the Indiana University Relays held Friday and Saturday.
Reynard’s top finish for the Warriors came in the 600-meter run as he crossed the line in 1 minute, 27.01 seconds. He teamed with Zac Chapman, Billy Henderson and Jonathan Tims for sixth place in the 4x400 relay in 3:21.28.

Greg Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2010
Helped the NCAA Division II No. 4 University of Findlay men’s basketball team to a 63-41 victory Jan. 27 over Lake Erie College.
Kahlig scored six points for the Oilers, who are now 16-1 overall and 9-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He added two rebounds and two steals.
He also hit both of his free-throw attempts and is shooting 93 percent for the season.

Dexter Shreve
Jay County – 2009
Competed in a pair of events for the Kent State University men’s track team at Saturday’s Penn State National Invitational.
Shreve placed 21st in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1 minutes, 6.57 seconds. He had a leap of 21 feet, 6 inches to finish 26th in the long jump.[[In-content Ad]]
