Snyder scores 15 for OSU

Joanna Snyder has been the picture of consistency.
The 2009 Fort Recovery High School graduate has scored at least nine points for the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team in every game this season. And she’s reached double figures in 13 of 14 games, including each of the last seven.
Snyder’s latest double-figure effort came Wednesday as she scored 15 points to help lead the NCAA Division III No. 9 Polar Bears to a 76-65 victory over Heidelberg.
With a 7-for-9 shooting effort that included a 3-pointer, Snyder is now shooting 50 percent from the field this season. She also had six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block as Ohio Northern improved to 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The senior scored 16 points Saturday on 6-of-10 shooting in the Polar Bears 65-45 win over Mount Union. She added five rebounds and three assists.
Snyder is second on the ONU squad at 13.1 points per game. She also averages 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks, and is shooting 82 percent from the free-throw line.

Finished with 14 points Saturday in the Huntington University women’s basketball team’s 63-61 loss to Mount Vernon.
Speed, who shot 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point range, tied the game with 14 seconds left, but Mount Vernon’s Camaranne Myles responded with the game-winning shot in the closing seconds. In addition to her 14 points, Speed also had four rebounds.
The junior totaled two points and four rebounds as the Foresters (11-6) defeated Spring Arbor 60-44 on Tuesday.

Reached double figures Saturday, but the NCAA Division II No. 24 University of Findlay men’s basketball team suffered its third loss of the season 65-61 to Wayne State.
Kahlig totaled 11 points, six rebounds and one assist for the Oilers, who slipped to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The junior also had seven points, five rebounds and four assists on Jan. 3 as Findlay defeated Saginaw Valley 64-56.

Scored seven points Wednesday for the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team Wednesday as it topped Lourdes 57-47.
Kahlig also grabbed six rebounds for the Racers, who improved to 6-12 overall and 3-7 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. She added one assist.
The freshman totaled 11 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal in Saturday’s 79-76 loss to Indiana Tech.

Played six minutes on Wednesday as the University of Northwestern Ohio men’s basketball team fell 58-47 to Lourdes.
