Softball coverage lacking (7/13/05)

My daughter plays in the minor league girls softball. Her team is Optimist. The girls have won every single game in their league, something to be very proud of.

But yet five of their game have not been published in the paper nor has any pictures been taken of their team. I contacted the sports editor about not publishing some of the games and his response was that he doesn’t get the score books and that is the responsibility of who is in charge of their league to turn them in.

Well, if the person that is in charge of the score books doesn’t want to do his job right they need to find someone else for that job. It has been a great disappointment to me and I know it has been for my daughter also because she is so excited to check the paper to see if her game the night before in the paper and turn out to be in there.

These girls have worked very hard to accomplish where they are at in the league, and to win every game in the league and to win two (so far) in the tournament games I think they deserve a little more credit and a publicity than they have gotten.
