Soldier's parents say thanks
Editor's Mailbag
By To the editor:-
A very heartfelt thank you to all who supported and encouraged Erik Caffey while he was home on leave from Iraq. There are too many to mention names; also, I do not want to leave anyone out.
Erik will be back in Iraq by the time you read this. Missing Erik never gets any easier. The feelings of limbo never go away. No one will ever know the overwhelming feelings that overcome the families of the men and women who are serving in our military. It’s definitely a roller coaster ride.
As I drive down the road of a “Free America,” it’s because of my son and others like him. When I am sitting down to a hot meal, I wonder what Erik is eating. When I lay down at night in the safety of my home, I wonder if he is O.K. When I vote in November it’s because of Erik and others like him who are protecting our right to do so.
I am in awe of the man that I still think of as my little boy. I wait at home in my rocking chair, a cup of tea, a box of tissues and my chocolate peanuts, for his safe return.
Now go out and exercise your right to vote. Many died for that right.
Proud parents of a soldier,
Ralph and Debra Caffey
