The Foresters had lost back-to-back games, knocking them out of the NAIA Division II top 25.
Pazia Speed helped make sure the losing streak wouldn’t stretch any further.
Up against her former teammate Erin Hunt’s Bethel Pilots, the 2010 Jay County High School graduate kept up her double-digit scoring streak with 18 points Wednesday in the Huntington University women’s basketball team’s 96-55 victory.
Speed shot 7-of-13 from the field and added four free throws as she joined Miranda Palmer (25) and Amelia Recker (21) in double figures. She has scored at least 11 points in every game for the Foresters (13-5) this year.
She added five steals, five assists and four rebounds against the Pilots (7-12).
Hunt, who graduated from JCHS in 2011, started and scored six points for Bethel on a pair of 3-pointers. She also had two rebounds and a block.
In Huntington’s 64-63 loss Saturday to Goshen, Speed finished with a game-high 23 points, two rebounds and one assist.
Hunt had two points, one steal and one rebound Saturday in a 73-63 loss to Marian.
Speed, who passed the 1,000-point mark for her career earlier this season, ranks 19th in NAIA Division II in total points (318) and 28th in points per game (17.7). She is also 14th in free-throw shooting at 86 percent.

Powered his University of Findlay men’s basketball team to an 80-79 overtime victory Jan. 9 over his former Tribe teammate Wade Gelhaus and the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
Kahlig shot 8-of-15 from the field for a team-high 24 points as the Oilers improved to 9-3. He also had four assists, four rebounds and two blocks.
The senior hit all of his seven free-throw attempts and finished with 27 points, four rebounds, two assists and a block in a 72-65 victory Saturday over Wayne State.
Wade Gelhaus
FRHS – 2013
Started for Saginaw Valley State in its loss to Kahlig and the Oilers.
Gelhaus hit a pair of field goals and finished with four points and three rebounds for the Cardinals (5-6). He added two points and two boards in Saturday’s 73-57 loss to Hillsdale.
Kegan Comer
JCHS – 2013
Was one of three players who scored in double figures Jan. 9 in the St. Francis University men’s basketball team’s 64-53 win over Cardinal Stritch.
Comer hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. He also had four assists and four rebounds.
The freshman notched seven points, five rebounds, one steal and one assist Saturday as the Cougars (13-5) fell 62-56 to Grace.

Was part of a pair of winning relay teams Friday and Saturday as the Calvin College women’s swim team won the Calvin Quadrangular.
Waugh, Kathryn Wrobel, Lexi Scott and Michaela Rookus fought off an Ohio Northern team for first in the 400-yard medley relay in 4 minutes, 9.01 seconds. She also joined Alex Dhaenens, Margaret Rechel and Wrobel for first with a time of 8:17.56 in the 800 freestyle relay.
The junior added a third-place time of 2:12.64 in the 200 backstroke. She was fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.8 and seventh in the 200 individual medley in 2:21.51.

Helped the Anderson University men’s basketball team to its third win in its last four games Wednesday, 81-71 over Manchester.
Schwieterman scored four points for the Ravens (3-11), who have bounced back after an 0-10 start to the year. He also had four rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist.
The freshman finished with 10 points, two blocks, two steals and two rebounds in Saturday’s 82-79 victory over Franklin.
Kylie Kahlig
FRHS – 2012
Was second in rebounding for the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team as it built a massive advantage on the glass in its 80-59 victory Saturday over Marygrove.
Kahlig grabbed nine rebounds as the Racers (10-8) posted a 58-31 rebounding advantage. She also had four points and one assist.
Neal Fennig

Turned in a fourth-place finish Friday during the Ball State University men’s swim team’s losses to IUPUI and Xavier.
Fennig had his best result in the 200-yard freestyle, taking fourth in 1 minute, 47.32 seconds. He was eighth in the 100 freestyle and 500 freestyle.
The junior also teamed with Tucker Hal, Drew Tharp and Nick Rodriguez for sixth in the 200 freestyle relay.
