Speed key in Huntington comeback

Pazia Speed came off the bench for the first time this season on Wednesday. She was ready when her team needed her the most.
Speed came up big in the second half for the Huntington University women’s basketball team, which erased an eight-point deficit and pulled away for a 63-53 victory over host Marian.
The Foresters (6-2) trailed by eight with 14 minutes to play before going on a 19-5 run.
A three-point play by Speed after a Jaclene Bonnema steal cut HU’s deficit to three points, and she added a lay-up a few minutes later to close the gap to one. A hoop by Courtney Baker gave the Foresters the lead for good, and Speed added another field goal and two free throws as they pulled away
Speed scored nine of her 11 points in the final 13:02 of the game and finished 5-of-5 at the foul line. She also had two rebounds and two assists.
In a Nov. 20 loss to St. Francis, the junior totaled eight points, two assists, one rebound and one steal.
Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery – 2009
Racked up team highs in points and rebounds Saturday to lead the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team to a 78-54 victory over Albion.
Snyder shot 8-of-12 from the field for her 16 points while also grabbing nine rebounds for the Polar Bears (4-1). She added two blocks and one assist.
The senior had 10 points, seven boards, three steals, two assists and two blocks Sunday in a 77-62 victory over St. Mary’s. In ONU’s 83-55 win Nov. 20 over Kenyon, she totaled 13 points, six rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist.
Greg Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2012
Powered the NCAA Division II No. 8 University of Findlay men’s basketball team to an 86-58 victory Monday over Notre Dame-Ohio.
Kahlig buried three 3-pointers as he finished with game highs of 18 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for the Oilers (2-1). He also had one steal.
Kendra Brunswick
Fort Recovery – 2011
Shared the team high in scoring Nov. 20 for the Edison Community College women’s basketball team, which rolled to an 83-50 win over Schoolcraft.
Brunswick was on fire from the field, shooting 8-of-11 and hitting one 3-pointer as she scored 17 points. She also shared the team highs of four assists and three steals for the Chargers, and grabbed five rebounds.
Lindsey Wellman
Jay County – 2010
Played for the Ball State University women’s basketball team Friday in its 61-56 victory over Bethune-Cookman.
Wellman saw one minute of action off the bench in the win for the Cardinals (3-4). She is averaging 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds per game after making the team as a walk-on in September.
Kylie Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2012
Started for the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team in its 91-79 loss to Lawrence Tech on Oct. 20.
Kahlig scored five points for the Racers, who dropped to 1-5. She also had two rebounds.
Erin Hunt
Jay County – 2011
Was one of 13 players to score Wednesday for the Bethel College women’s basketball team in its 86-46 victory over Goshen.
Hunt made both of her free-throw attempts and finished with two points. She added two steals and one assist.
