Speed powers No. 24 Foresters
Collegiate Check-up
A former Patriot led the Foresters to their third win over over a ranked foe.
Pazia Speed, Jay County High School class of 2012, scored on a lay-up, led the NAIA Division II No. 24 Huntington University women’s basketball team late in the game Saturday as it knocked off No. 25 Taylor 70-65.
Speed broke a tie game when she scored on a fast break, and then came up with a steal and three-point play to put the Foresters (13-7) in control for good. She finished with 17 points, three steals, two assists and two rebounds.
She had 14 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists Wednesday in a 63-55 loss to 15th-ranked Bethel, and totaled 11 points, two steals, one assist, one rebound and one block Jan. 10 as HU defeated Goshen 70-50.

Powered the NCAA Division III No. 8 Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team to a 76-60 victory over Wilmington.
Snyder shot 9-of-17 from the field for 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had an assist. The senior totaled 16 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal as the Polar Bears (15-1, 9-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) topped Capital 61-47 on Saturday.
Cori Vormohr
Jay County – 2009
Was part of a first-place relay Saturday in the Ball State University women’s swim team’s win over Marshall, Xavier and IUPUI.
Vormohr teamed with Carlena Magley, Mallory Przybylinski and Emily Wisolek to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1 minute, 38.72 seconds. She was sixth in the 100 breaststroke and seventh in the 200 breaststroke.

Racked up 22 points Jan. 10 in the University of Findlay men’s basketball team’s 97-58 victory over Ohio Dominican.
Kahlig hit three 3-pointers and added four rebounds, two assists and a block. He had 10 points, nine rebounds and two steals as the Oilers (10-4) fell 57-55 Saturday to Tiffin.

South Adams – 2011
Helped the Calvin College women’s swim team to a second-place finish this weekend at the University of Chicago Invitational.
Waugh placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2 minutes, 14.58 seconds. She was 10th in the 100 backstroke and 11th in the 500 freestyle.
