Spend tax $ in Jay County (02/10/06)
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Well, they did it again. The city of Portland took tax dollars out of Jay County to purchase a lawn mower. Also, it hasn’t been but six weeks ago that the Jay County Hospital took their money out of Jay County to purchase a lawn mower.
Wouldn’t it be nice to read in our newspaper where the small businesses in Jay County were patronized?
Wake up, Jay County, before the remaining small businesses will be the thing of the past.
Oh, by the way, as far as we know, Redkey is still in Jay County.

Great show
To the editor:
I would like to applaud the cast and crew of “Beauty and the Beast.” What a great show. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy top-notch theatrical performances in Jay County.
I wanted to say a big thank you to all the dedicated people in the Performance Company and Crying Baby Productions for using you talents to serve the people of Jay County.
And if you haven’t seen “Beauty and the Beast” you still have a chance this weekend. I highly recommend it to those of all ages.

(Editor’s note: The production of “Beauty and the Beast” at Arts Place in Portland will be performed today at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.)
Good service
To the editor:
I want to tell you about an incident I had recently. I had a problem with a chair I had purchased at Medler’s Furniture. The very day I called Mr. Medler about the problem, I had a very nice repairman arrive at my home right on time.
After looking the chair over he discovered the problem would have to be repaired in the shop. Before the repairman left with the chair he said he would have it back by 4:30 on Thursday, which was just two days from then.
When Thursday arrived, once again he arrived just when he said he would with my good as new chair. After placing my chair in the living room he started to leave. I asked him if I would be receiving a bill. He said that Mr. Medler said it shouldn’t have happened and that he was sorry. He said there would be no charge.
We often hear about the negatives of living in a small town. I just wanted to share a positive. Medler’s Furniture is a great place to buy, and has very reliable, friendly service.
