St. Henry downs Fort (01/15/05)

ST. HENRY, Ohio — Fort Recovery led for most of the first quarter, but couldn’t shoot for much of the second half as it fell to the St. Henry Redskins Friday 56-42.
The Indians (6-4, 2-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) trailed by nine points at halftime, and fell apart in the third quarter. They were outscored 18-7 in the period as they shot just 21 percent in the second half.
St. Henry pushed its advantage to as many as 21 points early in the fourth quarter before Fort Recovery pulled back for the final margin.
Andy Puthoff and Kurt Huelsman led an efficient Redskins team, finishing with 11 and 10 points respectively. Nate Stahl and Ross Niekamp just missed double figures as they scored nine points apiece, and Toby Boeckman added eight points.
Puthoff, Huelsman, and Niekamp shot a combined 11-of-15 from the field to lead St. Henry to its 51-percent effort from the field.
Huelsman also had team highs of six rebounds, four blocks and two steals. Boeckman matched Huelsman with six rebounds, and Jared Stammen had four rebounds and three assists.
Fort Recovery shot just 29 percent for the game as Dusty Tobe led the way with 12 points. Travis VanSkyock scored more than half of his points with a 6-of-6 effort from the foul line as he finished with 11.
VanSkyock grabbed six rebounds, and Tyler Wuebker added four. Tobe had two assists, and Greg Faller scored six points and also notched a pair of assists.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team lost by the same 14-point margin as the varsity squad, falling to St. Henry 46-32 Friday.
Tyler Thobe was the lone Indian in double figures as he scored 11 points. Bobby Rammel followed with six points.
Tyler Thobe and Matt Thobe each had four rebounds. Tyler Tobe added two steals, and Curt Heitkamp finished with two assists.
Mitch Niekamp paced St. Henry with 15 points. Zach Thobe also reached double digits with 11 points, and Doug Griesdorn added nine.[[In-content Ad]]
