St. Henry tops Indians in five (10/10/07)
Fort Recovery volleyball
FORT RECOVERY - For the second time this season, the Indians watched a two-game lead slip away.
The Fort Recovery High School volleyball team won each of the opening two games Tuesday night only to fall 18-25, 24-26, 25-22, 27-25, 15-13 to the St. Henry Redskins. The team also had a two-game lead against Midwest Athletic Conference rival New Knoxville Sept. 20 before losing in five games.
Junior Kinsey Wenning finished with 13 kills and 12 digs in Tuesday's loss, which dropped the Indians to 10-11 overall and 1-7 in the MAC, and Beth May had 12 digs and 11 points. Kelsey Wuebker finished with 22 assists and 11 points, and Sarah Braun notched 16 blocks and eight kills.
Nicole Pottkotter had 23 assists against St. Henry (6-14, 3-5 MAC), Emily May came up with 15 digs and Anne Koesters totaled 14 blocks.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery slipped to 11-6 with a 25-11, 25-11 loss to the Redskins.
Chelsey Leuthold had 10 digs and two kills in the loss, and Alyssa Brackman finished with eight digs and three points. Holly Brunswick tallied six kills, and Carly Staugler had five assists.
Josie Guggenbiller had three points, and Lorraine Shier finished with two kills.
Middle school
NEW BREMEN, Ohio - The Indian eighth grade team rallied for a 22-25, 25-23, 25-19 victory over the New Bremen Cardinals, and the seventh grade team won 25-8, 25-22.
Mikayla Westgerdes scored 15 points, five of which came on aces, for the eighth grade team (10-5). Kylie Kahlig had nine points and six kills, and Olivia Schwieterman totaled 10 assists and two kills.
Amy Link topped the seventh grade Indians (9-6) with seven points. Chelsea Pottkotter followed with five points, including a team-high three aces.[[In-content Ad]]
