Station plans OK'd (11/13/2008)
Portland Board of Zoning Appeals
By By RACHELLE HAUGHN-
A request to open a unique gasoline and ethanol station in Portland has gotten the green light.
Members of the Portland Board of Zoning Appeals approved a request for a special exception in an area zoned neighborhood business during a brief meeting Wednesday evening.
Keith Osterholt and Dave Miller filed the request to create a gas station that would sell a variety of gas/ethanol blends - including E85 (85 percent ethanol) and E30 (30 percent ethanol).
Osterholt said this morning that he owns the property at 103 W. Lincoln St. where the station will be built, which also is occupied by his business R&R RV Repair.
Miller will own the business, which has been named Ethy Pump and Go. Osterholt and Miller are working together on the project.
The gas pump is set to be located on the north side of the lot near Lincoln Street, under a canopy. There likely will be one pump with three hoses.
There will be two underground tanks and the ethanol and gasoline will blend at the pump. There also will be regular gasoline for sale.
The station is expected to be one of the first in the state to sell blended E30.
A building and planning department official said this morning that no one in the audience objected to the request, and no written or verbal objections were received prior to the meeting.[[In-content Ad]]
