Stein keys Defiance victory (12/06/2008)

Holly Stein was one of four Yellow Jackets to score in double figures, helping lead the Defiance College women's basketball team to a 74-72 victory over Siena Heights.

The 2007 Fort Recovery High School graduate scored 10 points in the Dec. 2 win. The Yellow Jackets held on for the win after leading by 10 points with just under a minute to play.

Stein also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. She had three assists, also a team-high, and two steals.

Tiff Gaerke

Saw her sophomore season come to an end Friday as her University of Dayton women's volleyball team lost in three games to Western Michigan in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Gaerke totaled seven kills for the Flyers, who finished the year at 21-13. She also had five blocks.

She also had seven kills, eight digs, three blocks and one assist Nov. 28 as Dayton lost in three games to Ohio.

Tyler Rigby

Jay County - 2006

Helped lead the IU-East men's basketball team to a 93-76 over Texas Christian.

Rigby scored 15 points for the Red Wolves.

Kurtis Hess

Jay County - 2006

Dropped his match, but his Carson-Newman wrestling team earned a 25-12 victory over Spartanburg.

Hess battled Carlos Morales in the 149-pounds match, but fell by a 7-5 score.[[In-content Ad]]
