Stein, Roessner crush Bradford (04/05/06)

FORT RECOVERY — Holly Stein and Vicki Roessner scored enough points on their own to get a victory Tuesday. Their teammates made the meet a blowout as the Indians won every individual event.
Stein and Roessner, both juniors, each won three events for the Fort Recovery girls track team, scoring 30 points, as it clobbered the Bradford Railroaders 96-29.
John Westgerdes led the boys team with a pair of wins, but the Indians fell 80-47.
Stein dominated the throwing events, teaming with Anne Koesters and Lauren Day to sweep both the shot put and discus. She had winning tosses of 35 feet and 104 feet, four inches respectively.
She also won the long jump at 12 feet, nine inches.
Roessner was in control in the hurdles, taking first in the 100-meter event in 18.96 seconds. She won the 300 hurdles by more than 15 seconds in 54.07.
Her third victory came in the 100 dash with a time of 14.83.
Tina Roessner, Vicki’s freshman sister, added two victories, leading one-two finishes in both. She took the 800 run in 2-minutes, 49.21 seconds with Karli Lee second and finished the 1,600 run in 6:04.32 with Sam Bihn as the runner-up.
Tiff Gaerke joined Stein for the field-event sweep, taking first in the high jump at four feet, eight inches.
Rachel Tobe won the 200 dash in 32.23, Mindy Vogel was first with a time of 1:08.26 in the 400 dash with teammate Melissa Tobe second and Bihn won the 3,200 run in 14:03.76.
Westgerdes took both the shot put and discus for the Fort Recovery boys. He won each event by about three feet with a toss of 36 feet, 2.5 inches in the shot put and 100 feet, 11 inches in the discus.
Other individual wins for the Tribe boys came from Eric Lamm at 59.12 in the 400 run and Adam Steinbrunner in the 3,200 run with a time of 11:57.94.
The Indians girls won the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays, and the boys took first in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.[[In-content Ad]]
