Stop signs reconfigured in Knox Township (02/14/06)
Jay County Commissioners
By By MARY ANN LEWIS-
With the Feb. 1 closing of a bridge on Division Road in Knox Township, stop signs at an intersection just east of that bridge are being reconfigured.
Jay County Commissioners Milo Miller Jr., Gary Theurer, and Faron Parr suspended rules and passed on first reading an ordinance Monday afternoon to convert a two-way stop at the intersection of Division Road and county road 850 West into a one-way stop at the newly-created T-intersection.
Westbound traffic on Division Road will now stop at 850 West; previously, 850 West stopped at Division Road.
Also Monday, Miller told his fellow commissioners that John Young has asked to not be reappointed to the Jay County Hospital Board.
His resignation is effective May 31 and commissioners will now search for his replacement.
Young has served on the board for the past seven-plus years and is currently serving as the board’s chairman.
Commissioners Monday also heard county highway superintendent Ken Wellman say Bishop Land Services will be conducting a geophysical petroleum reserve test south of Dunkirk.
The commissioners gave right-of-way permission for the survey.
The test will begin on the Randolph County line and continue north on county road 1150 West for three miles.
The test involves attempting to locate natural gas or petroleum below the earth’s surface.
The next meeting for commissioners will be Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. The courthouse will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day.[[In-content Ad]]
