Students' work to be exhibited at Arts Place
Taking Note
Arts Place in Portland will feature students’ work from area schools at the 2012 Regional Student Art Exhibit beginning Thursday and continuing through April 5 in the Hugh N. Ronald Gallery.
A reception will held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, to recognize students and instructors.

Two Pennville Elementary School students received ribbons in the East Central Indiana Regional Science Fair.
Allison Jobe, a fourth grade student, received a white ribbon for her project “Snooze Or Lose.” She is the daughter of Brian and Lisa Jobe.
Haley Corwin, a third grader, received an honorable mention ribbon for her project “Telegraph.” She is the daughter of P.J. Corwin and Misty Thornburg.
Spring concert
The Patriot concert bands, jazz band, winter guard and winter drumline will perform at the annual spring concert on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Jay County High School Auditorium. Admission is free.
Grief sessions
State of the Heart Hospice and Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, both of Portland, are partnering to offer a series of Growing Through Grief sessions.
The first session will be Wednesday, March 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the State of the Heart office, 1237 W. Ind. 67. Sessions will continue each Wednesday through May 2.
The sessions are open to anyone experiencing grief and loss issues. For more information or to register, call Rob Penrod at Williamson and Spencer at (260) 726-7111 or Marlene Black at State of the Heart at (260) 726-3220
