Summer school plans gearing up (04/27/07)

With the final day of school now set for Thursday, May 31, plans for summer school are gearing up at Jay County High School.

Physical education, math, language arts, U.S. history, U.S. government and driver education will be offered during summer school.

JCHS sophomores and juniors that have not passed ISTEP in math and language arts will be required to earn two waivers at summer school.

Students are required to earn two waiver credits for each subject not passed to be eligible for a Jay Schools Graduation Qualifying Exam or ISTEP waiver. The credits can only be earned by passing Algebra I or English 10 during JCHS summer school.

Students must attend both summer school semesters from June 4 to July 13 to qualify for the waiver.

Students must be enrolled by May 30 at 4 p.m. For more information contact the guidance department at (260) 726-9306. Parents of JCHS and middle school students can sign up and make payments for summer school classes in the commons area during parent teacher conferences on Tuesday from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m.

A $50 deposit for driver education must be made when registering for the class and full payment, totaling $287, is due a week before the class begins.

Student report cards will be available beginning June 6 from 7 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the JCHS office.

Parents that would like their child's fourth cycle report card mailed to them can bring a self addressed, stamped business envelope to the JCHS office before the end of the school year.[[In-content Ad]]
