Supercenter needed

All the pros and cons to having a Wal-Mart Supercenter ... what is it they say, you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time?
Yes, a Super Wal-Mart would be great in Portland. As one writer said, look at the people it would bring in. As for the little mom and pop stores, I am sure those little businesses sell items that are not sold in Wal-Mart. I have not seen the large appliances, recliners, sofas or plumbing pipe sold in Wal-Mart. It might be a supercenter, but just think, if someone comes to shop there and they were also in the market for an appliance or some plumbing pipe, then they would do more shopping than just Wal-Mart.
As for me, my dog only eats a certain brand of dog food; I have to go to Bluffton or Muncie to get it. So I got to one of those towns, eat at one of the far too many places to mention, shop at a Christian book store, visit a music store, shop at Wal-Mart and even at Marsh (helps walk off my meal) — all in one town.
Someone even mentioned the lack of a music store in Portland. Would be nice if there was a music store, even if limited that could perhaps work with the one in Muncie or even a music store for band instruments in conjunction with a Christian book or music store.
Berne has a nice small Christian book/music store. Perhaps they would be limited in what they could have on hand, but be willing to go to Muncie or somewhere to get what a customer wants. Think how that would benefit the working people.
Portland’s motto is “A Place to Grow.” Yes there are pros and cons, but come on people, let’s think positive and get busy and work and grow together.
Thank you,
