Take a stand for God (10/3/02)

Our forefathers came to this country for freedom. As they wrote the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, they included freedom of speech and freedom of religion. God has blessed the USA because He was, and is, its foundation.
Our country started out as a moral country. I wonder what George Washington and Abraham Lincoln would say if they knew what our country is like today. Over the years our moral condition has deteriorated and as a result, sin abounds.
When they took prayer out of school, I was a Christian. And like so many others, I looked for someone else to do something about it. But no one did. So now, instead of prayer in the school, we have children taking guns and knives to school. And we wonder why!
Now we have justices not only trying to take the Ten Commandments out of government buildings, but it represents determination by the courts to eliminate all references to God throughout the land. This includes the Pledge of Allegiance and eventually anything else that gives reference to God.
Others boldly speak against God and in behalf of sin. But we Christians are not supposed to be allowed to even acknowledge God. This is our country, too. We have the right as citizens of this country to acknowledge our God wherever we are, private or public. It’s time that we stand up for what we say we believe.
God loves every man, woman, and child, but He hates sin. He loved us so much that He made a provision that our sin can be forgiven. That provision was costly — it cost Jesus, God’s son, his life! We can make a difference! If Christians will stand up and take their position, we can lift up our God and He can move. But He can’t move until we act! I did nothing about prayer taken out of schools, but I’ll do all I can to take my position for my God.
Over the years we are gradually losing a little of our freedoms at a time. If we don’t take a stand, one day we’ll wake up and our freedoms will be no more.

“If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14.
