Take care of your pets
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Are you missing a small black cocker mix puppy? I doubt it, but he was hit and killed Feb. 11 on South Meridian Street (in Portland). Just another needless, senseless act of cruelty.
Bottom line: If you’re going to have a pet, please be responsible enough to take care of it.
You should be ashamed of yourself, but again, I doubt it.

Questions
To the editor:
What do we like about how our water bills are set up? They are read in the water department.
If this is so, why can’t they notify people about their bills before they get to $535?
That was when we were notified to check for a leak. As soon as we were, I got a hold of Mark Aker and we had a leak. A brass coupling under the house had split. We had it fixed as soon as the city let us know about the excessive amount being used.
It’s not fair that under these conditions that we should have to pay all of the sewage. Not one ounce went into the city sewer.
I thank the city for letting us make payments, but still not fair. This needs to be corrected. We have a lot of low-income and retired people in this town.
