'Taste' was a successful event
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
What a wonderful food-inspired event the Jay County Chamber of Commerce hosted Nov. 24 at John Jay Center for Learning during Winterfest.
The Taste of the Holidays vendors participating all deserved to win as the tastings were delicious.
All Jay County food establishments and any Jay County Chamber members were permitted to enter the competition with their signature food items in a variety of categories. The winners and their food items were as follows:
Appetizer: Romer's Catering -Gourmet Fire Cracker
Salad: Harmony Café and Studio – Bacon Apple Pecan Salad
Soup: Lil Bistro – Tomato Basil
Sandwich: Jay Smokin' BBQ –Pulled Pork Slider
Side Dish: Payless Pizza and Carla's Catering – Cole Slaw
Entrée: Jay County Hospital – Cranberry Chili Chicken
Pizza: Suman Bros.
Beverage: Harmony Café and Studio – Peppermint Mocha
Dessert: Koffee Kup Diner –Assorted pies, cakes and cheesecakes
Koffee Kup Diner’s various desserts also won the overall “Best of Taste” award.
We want to congratulate the winners, and we encourage you to visit these food establishments to taste their winning food items.
This event would not be possible without the financial sponsorship of AEP/Indiana Michigan Power. We say thank you for supporting our local food vendors.
There are many other individuals and businesses that donated their time and/or needed items. The community and the Jay County Chamber greatly appreciate your commitment in making this local food event happen. We look forward to the Taste of the Holidays next year.
Now get out there and explore what delicious food our community really has to offer and don’t forget these businesses during the holidays. Many of them are available to cater holiday events, and they also offer gift certificates for your loved ones.
Happy Holidays.
