Tax bills still on hold (07/23/2008)
Jay County residents waiting for property tax bills will have to hold on a while longer.
Jay County treasurer Robin Alberson said Tuesday final property tax rates still haven't been determined, which continues to push back the mailing date for bills.
Delays with the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance have backed up the tax process.
Alberson said she didn't know when those rates would be in. If the delay is too much longer, she said the 2008 property tax payments will be lumped together into one bill in the fall. A cutoff date for that procedure has not yet been decided.
Property tax bills are typically collected in semi-annual installments due on May 10 and November 10.[[In-content Ad]]
