Going up against one of the top teams in the NAIA brought out the best in Nick Teeter.
The South Adams High School graduate poured in a career-high 19 points Tuesday to lead the Huntington University men’s basketball team to an 84-76 victory over NAIA Division II No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan.
The Foresters (10-6) trailed by as many as eight points in the second half, but back-to-back Teeter 3-pointers pushed them to a 54-53 lead. He added a third 3-pointer to give HU a six-point lead with less than four minutes remaining, and then helped the team score 15 of its final 17 points at the foul line.
Teeter finished 3-of-5 from long distance and 8-of-9 at the line en route to sharing the team-high scoring total with senior Caleb Kennedy. He added four rebounds, two steals and an assist as Huntington halted a three-game losing streak with the upset.
The sophomore hit a pair of 3-pointers for six points Dec. 29 in a 59-49 loss to Rochester. He also had three assists and a steal.
Teeter is averaging 6.3 points per game and has hit 22 3-pointers on the year.

Missed just one shot Dec. 29 as he led the University of Findlay men’s basketball team to an 83-59 destruction of Goshen.
Kahlig went 6-of-7 from the field, hit all of his three 3-point attempts and added one free throw to lead the Oilers with 16 points. He also dished out three assists and added two rebounds and a steal as the NCAA Division II No. 19 Oilers improved to 10-2.

Jay County – 2012
Led the Huntington University women’s basketball team in scoring Tuesday in a 67-54 loss to NAIA Division II No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan.
Speed buried three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for the Foresters (9-5), who had won five straight. She added four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
The sophomore notched eight points, four assists and two rebounds Saturday in Huntington’s win over Saint Mary of the Woods in the championship game of the Taylor University Classic. She had four points, three rebounds and an assist Friday in the Foresters’ 57-54 opening-round win over Bryan.
Joanna Snyder
Ft. Recovery – 2009
Helped the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team to a 75-53 victory Wednesday over Heidelberg in its first game of 2012.
Snyder finished with eight points as 15 Polar Bears scored in the win. She also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The junior tallied nine points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist Friday in a 64-63 victory for ONU (11-2) over Adrian.[[In-content Ad]]
