Thank you for help with ride
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The weather was just perfect for the sixth annual Lance Cpl. Andrew F. Whitacre Memorial Ride.
We raised over $6,100 for the memorial fund that was held on June 14.
The money that is raised will be used to send packages to those that are deployed and serving in the military. We continue to support Joe Hilty’s Lemonade 4 Soldiers and Thank the Yanks out of Coldwater, Ohio, by paying for the postage of the packages they send.
We would also like to help out other groups that are sending packages to our troops. A lot of times church groups, scouts or other organizations will take up donations for items to be sent. But the big cost comes when you get to the post office to mail all these donations. We would be glad to help out to get these packages on the way to cheer those on deployment. Please call (260) 729-2575 and leave a message.
We would like to thank all of those who worked so hard to make this day possible and everyone who came out to support us. We would also like to thank the Moose lodge for sponsoring this event, and the Portland Police and the Bryant Volunteer Fire departments for their assistance in the first leg of our ride.
Thanks also go to FCC Indiana, 3M Club of Hartford City, Portlands Best One & Auto Care, First Bank of Berne, TJ’s Bicycle & Moped, Adam’s Physical Therapy, Joe Dillman, Aker Taylor Plumbing, Arm’s Body Shop, Doug & Carla Horn and Marla Clauser Realtor.
I would also like to thank the following sponsors for their donations, Country Creek Primitives, Schmidt Chiropractic, Ponderosa, Yesterday’s Treasures, Progressive Office Products, Blooms Discount, Pizza Hut, Fisher Packing, Renegade Customs, Remember When, Loy Auctioneer, Fear Powersports, Portland Motor Parts, Evan’s Fine Jewelry, Harvest Land Co-Op, Advance Auto, Portland Super Wash, Crossroads Federal Credit Union, Jay County REMC, Adair Processing, Greazy Pickle, Jay County Beverage, Arby’s, Summer Breeze, Arm’s Auto Body, WPGW, Aker Taylor Plumbing, Tire Center, Cooks Nursery & Trim, Clear Chiropractic, Buffalo Wings & Rings,The Flower Nook, Ja-Mar TV & Appliance, Lockers Plant and Gifts, The Cellular Connection, AMX Motor Sports, Matt’s Garage, Visual Changes, Brockman Furniture, First Band of Berne, The Closet Update, The Coin Store, Wabash Garage, The Tin Cupboard, Hull Bros., Ft.
