Thank you for sewer project work
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Portland Mayor Randy Geesaman, Portland City Council, city employees and contractors who have all done a superlative job on the north end sewer separation project.
As a business owner whose property borders on Creagor Avenue, I can only imagine how difficult a project like this would be — to find existing structures and sewer connections while trying to make life manageable for the people and businesses.
So many times we are critical of projects such as this because it is so potentially disruptive to our every day lives. I know the mayor, members of city council and Portland employees personally were involved to cause as little disruption as possible.
I also would like to thank former Mayor Bruce Hosier and past city council members who recognized the need for separations of sewers from rain water and actually started this project. Projects such as this one aren’t as sexy and fun as new parks and pools, but if the city does not get the infrastructure of our great community in tip-top shape it only spells even bigger problems not only for this community but also for everyone who shares our water.
I also realize projects like this involve many state and federal agencies to assist the local community in getting these projects financed and completed correctly.
Great job to all those who were involved for a job well done. It has made Portland a better community now and into the future. Thank you.

Thanks for honesty
To the editor:
I would like to thank the woman who turned my purse in at Walmart last Friday.
It’s so good to know there are still honest people in this world.
God bless you and thanks again.
