Thanks for a great time

We’ve returned home from our most recent week-long stay at your beautiful Jay County Fairgrounds. The camper has been emptied and cleaned, and the laundry is caught up. The engine trailer and contents have also been cleaned up and readied for its next show.

We wanted to take time out to thank the people of Portland for another week of hospitality and “putting up with us.” As stated in your editorial of Monday, Aug. 18, we are at least two of the visitors coming for the “umpteenth” time. Seventeenth, to be exact. We also have come for 17 swap meets that are held each May.

Thanks to The Commercial Review for the newspaper delivery to the campgrounds, to the people we meet in the stores and restaurants, and the friendliness we find everywhere.

Again, to paraphrase your editorial mentioned above, coming to Portland is a privilege we take seriously and we’re always glad to see you.
