Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
We would like to thank everyone who attended the Faith, Family & Football event on Aug. 28 at South Adams High School and area churches and businesses who helped sponsor the event.
Josh Bleill, a community spokesman for the Indianapolis Colts, talked of his experiences while serving in the United States Marine Corps in Iraq and how he coped after losing both his legs in a roadside bombing there. Josh attributed his faith for getting him through his recovery and now enjoys traveling for the Colts sharing his story.
He spent time after the program signing autographs and speaking to those in attendance and was very personable and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Also we would like to thank Stephania Taylor of Berne, who shared her story about losing her son Nick while he was serving in Afghanistan. Even through her tragic loss, Stephania was able to give glory to God for the time she had her son.
Thanks to Jim Waechter, Art≤ Booth and other volunteers from the Museum of the Soldier, area VFW’s and American Legions and military members who presented a color guard ceremony before and following the program and for the wonderful musical entertainment provided by Mike Wilson, the quartet from First Missionary Church and Brittany Hernandez and Sidney Sprunger.
After the program, money was collected for the Wounded Warrior Project. We are excited to report that $4,776 was collected for this organization. Thanks to local Cub Scout and Boy Scout troop members for helping collect money at the doors.
This event would not have been possible without the financial help of area churches and businesses and we are grateful to everyone who gave.
We would also like to thank WPGW radio in Portland for the interview, WBZD radio in Berne for the live interview with Josh and JOY FM radio in Union City and WCSM radio in Celina, Ohio, for its announcements. Also thank you to The Commercial Review, The Berne Tri-Weekly and Decatur Daily Democrat for the stories and advertisements.
It was a privilege to be part of bringing this special event to our community and we hope everyone who attended was blessed.
Thank you,
Committee members of the Faith, Family & Football event [[In-content Ad]]
