Thanks for Pennville festival help

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
Pennville held its 4th Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 16th. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. We had perfect weather, plenty of help, only a couple of vendors had to cancel at the last minute, no major catastrophes and we had a very nice crowd all day long.  We had all the familiar faces from the Pennville community & lots of out of towner’s as well. I think after four years of lessons learned, we are finally getting the hang of what it takes to make this event a continued success. Saturday was definitely a success in my book.
Of course, planning an event like this takes lots of work, but all the best planning doesn’t work unless you have the patience, help and support of those around you. First, I want to thank my family for seeing me through this. Even with the moans and groans, you guys were a big help and I do appreciate every bit of it. Thank you to Elvin Newhouse for all of his help, pumpkin donations, encouragement & words of “wisdom”.
Elvin and I couldn’t have pulled this event off without the help of countless people in the community and surrounding areas. There are too many to name, but I want to attempt to cover the whole group. Thanks to Lindy James for having the park mowed up and looking good. First impressions mean a lot. Thanks to Ron Bunch & the guys from Wampum Hardware & Gary Michael for your help with the electricity and all the pre-festival stuff, Dillon Taylor for being our right hand man on Friday and Saturday, Tom Brinkerhoff for the great DJ service, all of the vendors that set up demonstrations of your craft, to those of you that provided an interactive project for the kids or those that provided food to satisfy any number of appetites for the day. Thanks also go to the volunteers that watched our game booths through out the day. Your help and patience with the kids means a lot to everyone. Thanks to those that provided monetary donations, door prizes, & gift certificates: AutoZone, Bandido’s, Blankenbaker’s Corner Store, Corwin Trenching, Cindy’s Styling Salon, CVS Pharmacy, Critter Control, Dan’s Custom Woodworking, Davidson Excavating, Dunn Family Dental, FCC Indiana, Harriet Hutson, Hapner Furniture & Video, Head to Toe Hair Care & Massage, Helena Chemical, IDC Restaurant, Jay Community Center, Jay County REMC, Lewis Signs & Graphics, Locker’s Touch of Country, Napa Auto Parts, Nu Beginnings, Pak-A-Sak, Penn Manufacturing, Pennville Delt’s, Pennville Feed Service, Pennville Masonic Lodge, Pennville Pantry, Simply Feet, Stylin’ & Profilin’ & Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home.

Thanks to John and Tammy Hanlin for the tables and straw, Pennville Legion for cash boxes and tables, Pennville United Methodist Church for chairs and cooking pasta, and Brenda Cash for your unlimited supply of names and ideas, Jennifer, Randy, Lacey and Lindsey for helping set up and to the tear down group.
I didn’t know all of your names, but your help was truly appreciated. Finally to the Indiana Pumpkin Growers for using us as a weigh-in site again this year.
Thank you again to everyone that helped make this event the success it was. We will make another nice donation to the Pennville Endowment, which in the end benefits our families & our community. We look forward to making next year even better.
