The Jay County Solid Waste District would like to thank everyone for making our second annual Tox-Away Day another huge success.
Thanks to Dan Orr from Jay County High School, students Anna and Kelsey, and to Milo Miller Jr. for volunteering to assist in keeping the traffic flowing.
Appreciation goes also to Portland Mayor Jim Hedges for allowing us to use the city parking lot and to the city street department, especially Dave Chadwick, for all their cooperation.
Thanks to the personnel at Waste Management for their help and to Jim Parker and his people from NuGenesis for “running the show” so efficiently.
Lastly, and most importantly, thanks to the citizens of Jay County whose chose to sacrifice their time in order to ensure so many toxic materials, tires and appliances be disposed of correctly.

Jill Cochran,
