Thanks from John Jay Center
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The John Jay Center would like to express our gratitude to a variety of people who assisted with the John Jay Roadshow and Benefit Auction. This event raised funds that will help expand our curriculum development, improve building maintenance, and increase our overall general fund. We want to thank Anita Byerly, Dave Tarter, and Don Osterman for lending their vast array of knowledge for the road show along with Rob Weaver, John Boggs, and Jack Ronald for assisting in advertising.
A big thanks to all who participated in this event, hopefully everyone discovered some treasures!
We would like to extend a special thank you to Doug Loy and Loy Auctioneering. The Loys team did a fantastic job in assisting with the full circle of events, from preparation to auction, and made the event enjoyable for everyone.
I would also like to thank Tom Young, Buffalo Wings and Rings, Barry Hudson, Mr. John Goodrich, Sara Farris, Dick & Lola Joy, Jay County Honey Farm, Fort Recovery Construction, Dr. David Fullenkamp, Bollenbacher and Associates, Gaunt Jewelry, Portland Kiwanis Club, Portland Cincinnatus League, WPGW, The Andersons Group, Dru Hall, Jason Phillips, Fort Wayne Komets, Patriot Sportswear, The First Bank of Berne, Old National Bank, Steve Arnold Insurance, Mayor Bruce Hosier, John Mills, El Camino, Portland Subway, Steve McClung, Tyler Newell, SDP Manufacturing and the Cincinnati Reds.

What spark?
To the editor:
Eric Cantor’s guest opinion column (Commercial Review, August 23rd, 2011), was long on criticism but short on substance. I failed to elucidate from reading, the spark that Congressman Cantor referenced in the title. Perhaps it was ... “boost economic growth through reducing the regulatory and tax burden.” Isn’t that what got us in the mess we find ourselves in now?
I would remind the good Congressman that legislative initiative is the responsibility of the legislative branch not the executive.
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
