Thanks given for auction (12/16/05)
Letters to the editor
To the editor:
The Jay County Cancer Society held its annual Ornament Auction Saturday, Dec. 3 at General Shanks Elementary School.
The auction was expanded this year to include any homemade Christmas item. Included in the auction were more than 600 handmade ornaments and more than 300 other handmade pieces, including wreaths, holiday arrangements, crocheted items, painted wooden and glass items, Christmas stockings, handmade greeting cards and homemade cookies and candies.
Again this year, Gary, Doug and Kim Loy and their staff donated their services which provided a fun and enjoyable evening.
This year’s auction raised more than $3,600 to benefit Jay County cancer patients. I would like to thank all of the people who made and donated Christmas items and all those who attended the auction.
In advance, I would like to invite everyone to the ornament auction to be held next December, which will also include any homemade Christmas item.
Thank you to everyone who helped made this auction a great success.

WinterFest thanks
To the editor:
My name is Laurann Schoenlein. I am 9-years-old and a third grader at General Shanks Elementary School.
I was chosen as Little Miss WinterFest this year. I had fun at the pageant and a fun time in the parade. I would like to thank the WinterFest committee for having the pageant. Ryan was a good emcee.
I would also like to thank Carly Fennig at Legacy for the pretty pictures she gave me. Thanks also to the chamber, Wal-Mart and The Movie Gallery for the gift cards.
Merry Christmas
