Thanks given for cook-off
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Jay County Humane Society would like to take this time to thank all those involved who made our second annual Chili Cookoff a huge success.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped set up the night before and worked during the cookoff; to those who donated all the desserts and many items for the auction; and all the chili entrants.
Thanks to Mel and Laci Smitley and staff for their time during the action, and to these businesses for their cash donations: First Bank of Berne, Ohio Valley Gas, Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Great Lakes Lawn Service, Barnett’s Auto Parts, Portland Insurance Agency, Clara Howard and Lonna VanSkyock.
Thank you also to all the vendors who set up during the event: Creations by Kim (Kim Mills and Peggy Atkinson), Avon (Cindy Myers), Tupperware (Tina Cavanaugh), Homespun by One (Sally Conwell, Beckie Paxson, Dawn Klatt and Barbara Gibson), Retro by Design (Beth Hunley and Lonna VanSkyock), 31 (Rae Sneary), 1Shot Sports (Dustin and Lori Bantz) and Beads-N-Bubbles (Connie Fear). If we failed to mention someone in this letter, we apologize.
Congratulations to the chili winners — Chad Aker, first place; Deb Maxwell, second place; and Audry Muhlenkamp, third place.
Dawn Keller,
Jay County
