Thanks given for Fiber Fest help
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Jay County Visitor & Tourism Bureau Board of Directors and staff would like to thank all 2012 participants of this year’s Fiber Fest & Spin-In at the Jay County Fairgrounds. The event was again a success, bringing in people from all over Indiana and the Midwest for a great weekend of celebrating the fiber arts.
We would like to thank all volunteers and vendors who helped make the weekend such a great success. These extraordinary people work so hard each year to teach the kids about the fiber arts and to keep everything running smoothly throughout the weekend. The Jayland Food Committee did an excellent job with the food, offering dining services throughout the weekend. Thank you to Carly Nichols and Doug Stanley for helping with the Soup Supper and for helping to raise money for the food banks of Jay County. This year, Carly Nichols started a silent auction that was very successful. Thank you to everyone who helped the night of the Silent Auction and who purchased items to support the food bank. Also, thank you to Walgreens staff and all of the many volunteers who helped with the event.
Jim Bob McEwen and Bob Lyons did an excellent job organizing the FFA Judging Contest and assisting throughout the event. The Jay County Visitor and Tourism Bureau would like specifically thank Al and Paula Confer, Dave Frasher, Elvin Newhouse, Kenya Habegger, Helen Rouch, Clarel and Kay Strausburg, Max and Shelba Chenoweth, Bill and Sally Reynolds, our greeters, our registration desk attendants, and everyone who helped in the animal barn throughout weekend. Also, thank you to John Boggs, Rob Weaver and the WPGW staff for making this year’s Fiber Fest extra special with live broadcasting throughout the day, and advertising for the event.
Over 1,000 people came to the Fiber Fest to see demonstrations, meet with vendors, purchase items, visit the petting zoo or to support the food banks of Jay County at the soup supper. None of these things would be available without the generous contributions of our sponsors, Bearcreek Farms and Raymond James & Associates. Thank you so much for helping our organization promote and provide this event to the community.
Next year’s Fiber Fest is scheduled for March 8-9, 2013. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about the Fiber Fest please contact Gyneth Augsburger, Director of the Jay County Visitor & Tourism Bureau at (260) 726-3366 or visit www.visitjaycounty.com.
