Thanks given for golf event
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Jay County High School boys and girls golf and football teams recently held a benefit golf scramble at Portland Golf Club.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated. Congratulations to the winning team of Jack, Drew and Jay Houck, and Austin Mann.
We would like to recognize the following businesses for their support of our athletes. Buffalo Wings & Rings, Coldren & Frantz, Jay County Beverage, Kessler’s Team Sports, Moser Engineering, Portland Banking Center/First Bank of Berne and Williams Auto Parts. This event would not have been possible without financial support from these fine businesses. In addition, special thanks to Display Craft, WPGW/PG14 and The Commercial Review for publicizing the golf scramble.
Again, thank you for your support of Jay County High School athletes.
Coaches Steve Boozier
and Butch Gray
Changes for Paul
To the editor:
Change is simply a part of life. Sometimes it’s invited and sometimes it’s not.
At the beginning of this month, new state legislative and congressional maps became law. Each decade, the Indiana General Assembly is charged with the responsibility of drawing these Senate, House and congressional maps based on data from the most recent census.
Shifting populations and applying fair guidelines resulted in many district boundaries changing — including those of Senate District 27. As a result, I will no longer represent the great people of Jay County — Hoosiers I’ve stood up for since I was first elected in 1986.
Of course, I am deeply saddened by this loss as I’ve grown to love representing Hoosiers in this area. I’ve found throughout the years that our beliefs are parallel, creating a strong, mutually beneficial relationship.
However, as I reach out to new neighborhoods, rest assured I will not forget about Jay County. Residents here can continue to count on me during this transitional period to represent their best interests, just as I have tried to do now for nearly 25 years.
Jay County Hoosiers should not hesitate to contact me anytime if I can be of service regarding state government. I’m only a letter, phone call or mouse click away:

I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the Hoosiers in Jay County for their support over the years. I have truly been blessed to serve such admirable people. Also, a big ‘thank you’ to Virginia Burkey (my district representative) for all the volunteer hours she spent on constituent service for the district.
Sincerely,
State Sen. Allen Paul
