Thanks given for help with Dunkirk social (08/24/07)

Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

My husband Tony and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people, clubs, churches and businesses that helped make this year's third annual Dunkirk Community Social a huge success.

The social was held July 29 at Dunkirk City Park, and we estimate more than 400 people attended. The following is a list of everyone who donated time, prizes, or sponsorship of this free event for the public:

The Andersons, Baskets by Connie, Butch Parfitt, Calvary United Methodist Church, Crossroads Financial Federal Credit Union, Dairy Dream, Display Craft, Dunkirk Barbershop, Dunkirk Carquest Auto Parts, Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce, Dunkirk City Parks Department, Dunkirk Public Library and Dunkirk Fire Department.

Also, Dunkirk Pantry/Miller Oil, Dunkirk Pool, Eaton EMS, Family Dollar (Dunkirk), First American Baptist Church, First Financial Bank and Trust, First Pentecostal Church, Fisher Packing, Freda Nicklay, Fuqua Chrysler Dodge, Gaunt Jewelers, and Girls Scouts of Central Indiana (Susan Rodriguez).

Also, Hewey Allred, Ja-mar, Jay County Beverage, Jay County Democratic Party, Jay County REMC, Jay County Solid Waste District, Jay Garment Antique Mall, Jean's Beauty Shop, John Gibson, Dunkirk Lions Club, LoBill Foods, Masters Insurance, Miller's Merry Manor, MJS Mortuaries, Dunkirk Nazarene Church, Oasis Tanning, Pacesetter Bank, Pak-A-Sak (Dunkirk) and Pearie Allred and Freda Herbert.

Also, Pete's Duck Inn, Pizza Hut, Ponderosa, Progressive Office Products, Redkey Optimist Club, Redkey Veterinary Clinic, Richard's Restaurant, SDP Manufacturing, Second Chance Bar & Grill, Sertec, Shields Garage, Tom & Rod's Steakhouse, Tom Johnson (Dunkirk City Council), Tony and Ailesia Franklin, Teens Read at the (Dunkirk) Library, True Value Hardware, Tyson, Wal-Mart, West Jay Optimist Club, Will's Market and WPGW/PG-14.

Whether they donated a door prize, use of services, or monetarily sponsored an event, everyone is vital to the continued success of the social. This event was an excellent way for the community to come out and appreciate our beautiful city park, as well as to spend time with family and friends.

Once again, many, many thanks to all who participated. We look forward to next year continuing this worthwhile tradition for the community.

Sincerely,

Tony and Ailesia Franklin
