Thanks given on safety event
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Portland Fire Department would like to thank the public for braving the weather to attend the second annual Fire Safety Day on Saturday, Oct. 2.
We hoped the public learned from this and had a chance to meet responding emergency departments and personnel.
We would also like to thank the Portland Police Department, Jay County Sheriff’s Department, Jay Emergency Medical Service (JEMS) and Rescue 19 for bringing apparatus to display and greeting the public.
We would like to thank Bickel Equipment Rental for use of its bounce house, Crown Pointe Assisted Living and Coca-Cola Bottling for providing refreshments and Central Gases for donating helium for balloons for the event.
We hope to see everyone back next year. October 3-9 is Fire Safety Week, but fire safety should be practiced all year long.
Sincerely,
Chad Aker and
Capt. Ron Somers,
Portland
