The nation's debt just keeps growing (03/16/07)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

I wrote a letter to the CR a few years ago about the growing national debt in this Country and at the time of writing it was over $5 trillion and counting. Today as I read The Indianapolis Star on my free time, I noticed that as of March 8, 2007 the debt owed to the public now stands at $ 8,744,967,000,000. The debt ceiling is just $261 billion away, which means once the debt ceiling is reached there are no longer any funds (bond money) left to run the Federal government.

The history of this country and its national debt can be traced back to the early foundation of the Republic of the United States. The first two banks became insolvent, then the creation of a fraudulent system called The Federal Reserve was born in 1913 on Jekyll Island. A braintrust of seven men who were super wealthy and very powerful businessmen created this system of banking that is currently in place today.

In 1933, President Roosevelt issued an Executive Order which took the country off the Gold Standard and required every citizen to turn in their gold and silver.

Now today, money is no longer backed by anything of intrinsic value so it's virtually worthless. There's a huge history lesson in this mess that involves many issues that are part of the United States' history as a nation including the fact that the United States is no longer a Republic but is now referred to in the news media as a democracy.

What happened to the Republic, you ask? It went bankrupt and was formed into a corporation.

To the editor:

The Jay County High school girls track team participated in an HSR qualifier track and field meet on Saturday (March 10) at Anderson University. There were more than 1,000 athletes entered.

Thanks to the girl's parents who provided snacks for the hospitality room. A special thanks to Nancy Garringer, Doug and Carolyn Johnson, Karen Mescher, Crystal Mosier, and Ed and Linda Wellman, who volunteered their time to help at the meet.

Thanks to Joni Penrod for handling all the registrations for the meet, and thanks to Phil Ford for his continuing support.
