The power of meth (3/22/05)

This was partially wrote and sent to me and my kids by a man I loved more than anything but my kids. Between him and drugs, our lives were torn apart. I’m slowly putting pieces together, but with the kids, sometimes the pieces won’t fit. They love their dad, but they have fear of drugs and more letdowns. He’s straight (in jail for a while). Reality hit him.

I wanted to share this for anybody that’s having trouble with drugs or has loved ones on drugs, and for kids to read it and say “no.” I know of teens trying it. I know of two beautiful people that have taken their lives in a year’s time and meth was a big part. Unless you go through it, you have no idea of the pain. I have such a fear that my kids will get on it when they get older. We need to pray to keep our kids away from it and for the people who are on it to get off and stay off and get this drug off the streets.

“I destroy homes. I tear families apart, I take your children, and that’s the start. I am more valued than diamonds and more precious than gold. The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.

“If you need me, remember that I am easily found. I live all around you, in the schools and in the town. I live with the rich and the poor, just down the street, and even next door.

“I am made in a lab, not like you think; I can even be made under the sink, in your child’s closet and out in the woods. If this scares you to death it certainly should.

I have many names but there is one you will know best, I am sure you have heard of me, I am crystal meth.

“My power is awesome, try me and you will see, and if you do you will never break free. Try me once and I might let you go, but try me twice and I will have your soul.

“When I possess you, you will steal, you will lie, and you will sell your body just to get high.

“The crimes you will commit for my narcotic charms will be worth the pleasures you’ll find in my arms.

You’ll lie to your mother and steal from your dad. You see how you hurt loved ones, but you won’t feel sad.

“Forget your morals and how you were raised, I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways.

“I take kids from their parents and parents from kids. I turn people away from God; I destroy friendships and people’s self-worth. I’ll be with you always for what it is worth.

“You’ll give up everything, your family, your friends, your money and your home. I’ll take and take until there’s no more to give. When I am finished you’ll be lucky you lived.

“If you try me be warned, this is not a game. If given the chance I’ll drive you insane, I’ll ravage your body, I’ll control your mind.

“I will own you completely and your soul will be mine. The nightmares I give you when you’re lying in bed, the voices you will hear from inside your head, the sweat and the shakes, the visions you will see, I want you to know these gifts are from me. And by then it’s too late and you will know in your heart that you are mine and we will never part.

“You will regret that you tried me, they always do, but you come to me, not I to you.

“You knew this would happen, many times you were told. You challenge my power, you challenged my hold, what in God’s name made you so bold? You could have said no and walked away, if you could live that day over what would you say?

“My power is awesome as I told you before. I will take your life, it won’t be a bore.

“I’ll be your master, you will be my slave, let me take you by the arm and show you your grave.

“Now that you met me what will you do? Will you try me or not, it’s all up to you.

“I can cause you more misery than words can tell. Come take my hand, I will lead you to hell.”
