They will be missed
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Dave Miller was one of the top benefactors who I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with in my lifetime. The crowd that attended his calling and his funeral at Westchester United Methodist Church told a story of what a great and much-loved man he was.
He often said to me, “Bob, God put me on this earth to help others,” and help them he did. Some of his top priorities were Westchester missions, his church, people with illnesses and people in accidents. If someone needed to come home, he would fly them home and, of course, there was no charge.
He also supported the Jay Community Center. He loved that place. Whenever he had the time, he could be seen working out. He loved David Wade’s “boot camp” and I enjoyed watching him and teasing him that he couldn’t keep up with his wife.
I would like to see the name Dave Miller shine forever in our community. Anyone with suggestions on the best way to remember Dave may write me at 6 Sesame St., Portland, IN, 47371, or call me at (480) 620-4596.

To the editor:
Several weeks ago our community lost a special man, Fred Myers. He was such a special person. If you had him for a friend, you were the lucky one.
He worked hard all of his life and in his retirement years he still gave his all. All you had to do was ask him to help and you rarely were turned down. He volunteered for several organizations — including his church — and he enjoyed every one of them. He even got his wife Roberta involved in a few where they worked side-by-side.
This last year they both had decided that they would slow way down and just spend the summer doing whatever came their way. This was the plan, but not to be as God had other plans for Fred. Now he’s in heaven working for God.
All of us that knew him miss him so much. The tall man with the big smile and warm welcome will be missed but never forgotten.
