Thief should be ashamed (10/6/05)
To the editor:
I am writing in response to the recent thefts at the Brown Bowl here in Portland.
As a member of the varsity girls Blue Jay High Rollers, it was very sad to hear that someone had helped themselves to not only Mr. Brown’s lawn mower, but to the aluminum cans that had been saved to help purchase uniforms, equipment and other expenses for our teams.
It makes me angry that a person’s hard work can be taken away so fast by an inconsiderate thief of the night.
Mr. Brown works hard for our bowlers and most of the money spent comes right out of his own pocket.
He gives us a safe and fun place to hang out and be off the streets.
We learn about teamwork and sportsmanship.
I only hope this thief hasn’t also taken Mr. Brown’s sportsmanship, because our team couldn’t work without him.
To this thief, you should be ashamed for taking money from the kids of this bowling center.

Unfair treatment
To the editor:
I was arrested for riding a four-wheeler in Jay County on a public road. I had a taser used on me, not once, but twice, for riding an ATV in town. I don’t think I did anything wrong, so why was so much force used?
I would like to ask the people of Jay County do you think they should ban the use of these taser guns? I think this is wrong. They will let people ride little choppers on the Portland streets with no turn signals or license. (Mine) is not a racing ATV, it is a farming ATV, so do the people think this is right or not?
I have lower lumbar disc disease in my back. They shocked me twice and caused me a lot of pain for riding an ATV on the street. The law is a misdemeanor so why did I go to jail?
Thanks for all your help.
