Thien leads FR over Versailles

FRHS softball

FORT RECOVERY - Back-to-back three-run innings keyed the Fort Recovery High School softball team to a 6-2 victory Thursday over the visiting Versailles Tigers.

Olivia Thien went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Indians (8-4, 1-1 Midwest Athletic Conference), who broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning. They went up 6-0 with three more in the fifth before Versailles got on the board twice in the seventh.

Kendra Brunswick followed Thien with two hits, including a triple, two RBIs and a run. Carly Staugler finished 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk.

Andi Sutter got the win as she struck out four batters in seven innings. She allowed seven hits and a walk.

Junior varsity

VERSAILLES, Ohio - Fort Recovery fell behind 12-0 in the opening two innings on the way to a 15-0, five-inning loss to the Tigers.

Brittany Sudhoff had half of the four hits for the Indians (2-5, 0-1 MAC). Taylor Guggenbiller and Stacy Stammen each added a single.

Becca Tobe took the loss, giving up six hits and 10 walks.[[In-content Ad]]
