Thien named to MAC first team (10/29/2008)


FORT RECOVERY - Frank Thien was honored on both sides of the ball.

Thien, a Fort Recovery High School senior, picked up All-Midwest Athletic Conference first-team honors Tuesday. He was one of six Indians honored by the league.

Totaling 14 touchdowns this season, Thien was one of the top scorers in the area. He racked up 43 receptions for nearly 700 yards.

Thien, who also was second on the team in tackles, as also named to the MAC's defensive second team. Kevin Fullenkamp, Fort Recovery's leading tackler with more than 90 this year, was also an All-MAC second-team selection.

Tyler Jutte, Greg Kahlig, Matt Braun and Craig Tobe all earned honorable mention.

The MAC also announced its all-academic teams, with seven Tribe volleyball players picking up the honor.

Holly Brunswick, Josie Guggenbiller, Anne Koesters, Nicole Pottkotter, Joanna Snyder, Kinsey Wenning and Kelsey Wuebker were all named to the All-MAC academic team. To earn the award, an athlete must be at least a sophomore, earn a varsity letter and carry a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Tina Roessner, Casey Backs, Rachel Tobe, Amber Heitkamp, Alexis Sutter and Abby Huelskamp earned academic honors from the FRHS girls cross country team. Others honored were Brian Keller, Adam Rohrer and Shane Stein (football); Ryan Heitkamp and Zach Guggenbiller (boys cross country; and Brady Kahlig (boys golf).[[In-content Ad]]
